Entertainment is all about fun, and in most cases, the more people engaged, the merrier. Streaming allows viewers from across the world to join the live sessions with charismatic entertainers and meet like-minded people. There are no boundaries in the digital world.

These streamers broadcast to millions, performing various activities, such as playing video games and slots live, discussing whichever interests their followers, and reacting to news or memes.

The rise and impact of streaming

Streaming has become a major force in entertainment due to the digital revolution. Livestreaming casino games has gained popularity on platforms like Twitch. What started as a niche hobby has evolved into a mainstream phenomenon and a billion-dollar industry.

Here are a few reasons why.

People realized the earning potential

Richard Tyler Blevins, known as Ninja, has an estimated net worth of $50 million. In 2024, he ranked among North America’s top five Twitch streamers based on follower count. As of today, Richard has over 19.2 million subscribers. He’s just one of many streamers who have turned their fortunes around by doing what they love most.

Your typical streamer has the potential to earn money from ad revenue, fan donations, and subscriptions. For example, streamers on the purple platform can earn revenue from the Twitch Affiliate Program or the Twitch Partner Program. Both have requirements that must be met, like follower numbers, consistency, and hours streamed. However, affiliates earn much less from their subscriptions and the platform’s virtual currency, Bits, than those in the partner program.

Partners are allowed to run ads during their streams, which, coupled with their higher viewer count, could generate thousands of dollars a month. This excludes donations, sponsorships, merchandise, coaching, and more that the enterprising streamer could delve into.

Casino streamers also engage with their followers on social media. And, of course, part of their stories and posts are sponsored, as brands know that using the audience’s trust towards the internet celebrity to deliver the message is a proven tactic. A recent online survey by Deloitte found that 63% of Gen Zs and 49% of millennials consider ads or product reviews to be the most influential in their buying decisions.

The diverse income streams available to these digital natives bring them the financial and creative freedom many crave.

Celebrity status became more approachable

Top streamers with millions of followers achieve fame and influence rivaling traditional celebrities. Many streamers have become key figures in digital youth culture due to their accessibility and relatability, so unlike the distant glamour of movie stars.

Blevins, for example, has authored a book, appeared on talk shows, and worked with major brands like Amazon Prime, Mixer, and Domino’s Pizza. Felix Kjellberg (PewDiePie) has garnered cultural impact and made numerous public appearances, while Imane Anys (Pokimane) has gone on to co-found RTS, a talent management and brand consulting firm.

Engaging with fans in real time, streamers foster a strong sense of community and relatability, spreading their celebrity status and personal brand across platforms and products.

The blind ambition to succeed

Casino streaming is as much about games as it is about the interaction. However, it should not be confused with platforms like Prime Video that offer a variety of content for streaming, too. Not only iGaming streams glue wagerers to screens but also draw gamers who enjoy watching high rollers from time to time.

Viewers ask questions, share thoughts, and suggest what to play next — broadcasts feel like a laid-back hangout with friends. While streamers cover different games like roulette, it’s slots that are most popular.

A popular choice: slot machine streaming

Slots streaming is a favorite among iGaming enthusiasts due to the anticipation of big wins. Slot streamers often educate their audience too by explaining game mechanics and strategies. By offering tips, they help viewers understand slot gaming intricacies, making live sessions more informative and engaging.

Which platforms to consider for casino streaming

There are a lot of streaming platforms out there, but only a handful are really popular among iGaming streamers and fans alike. These are:

Twitch

Twitch (formerly Justin.tv) quickly established itself as the premier home of gaming content, attracting millions of viewers and streamers worldwide. In 2024, over 7.3 million channels went live on the platform monthly, with an average of 95,700 channels streaming simultaneously.

Initially focused on user uploads, it has since added several functions like real-time chat, subscriber-based monetization, and more with the Twitch Partner Program. It is a popular destination for virtual casino fans and slot streamers. For example, the Slots channel generated over 6.3 million hours watched and peaked at 33,625 viewers during the last 30 days (I wrote this article at the end of April 2025.)

YouTube

YouTube is another leading video and streaming platform, with a vast worldwide user base producing and consuming user-generated content. In April this year, YouTube surpassed Twitch (ranked second) and Kick (ranked third) by the number of hours watched, live viewers, and average viewers.

Gaming is one of the three primary categories, accounting for 14% of content. Casino streams hold a decent share of the pie, allowing creators to leverage YouTube’s extensive reach to attract a diverse audience, from casual viewers to hardcore iGaming fans.

Kick

Stake-backed Kick is a relatively new live-streaming platform that sets its sights on offering better revenue share for its streamers, improving community interaction tools, and fewer content restrictions. This led to an exodus of casino streamers from other platforms, making the move to Kick.

The green platform is quickly gaining traction and already has press-release-worthy achievements to brag about. Its March viewership results across key metrics were the highest ever. For example, it garnered more than 317 million hours watched, a 20% increase compared to February 2025. Slots & Casino category was one of the four most popular; viewers spent almost 32 million hours watching casino streamers playing live.
